Talos Production and Development Update

Talos is Shipping

Last week we began shipping the first Talos 600 units over a week earlier than projected! Getting the first units out the door has shown us a few things, the Magnum+ has to be a standard offering, and shipping fully assembled units anywhere is financially feasible. In the beginning, we believed the cost of crating and shipping such a large unit would be cost prohibitive but we have been able to work with a crating company and get better LTL shipping to make this possible. We now have the option for all Talos units to get them as a kit in sub-assemblies or assembled for those who just need to get up and running right away. Also, the Slice Engineering Magnum+ is now a standard option for all Talos units.

This is the last week to save up to $2000 on a Talos before the sale ends 10/30

Development

  • Filament Storage Cabinet- We are currently working on a large spool storage system with the following goals:

    • Capability of storing up to 10kg spools

    • Sealed with humidity monitoring and dehumidifying the storage volume.

    • Easy filament changes

    • Release Jan-Feb 2024

  • Chamber Heater- This will be an add-on to any Talos unit, currently we are expecting 1 unit per 600mm in Y with the Talos 1800 using 3 heaters with the following goals:

    • Plug and play addon with existing electronics

    • Maintain chamber temps between 70-80c for printing ABS/PC/Nylon materials

    • Release Dec 23/Jan 24

  • Vacuum Bed- this will replace the need for a magbed completely, solving the issue where the probe is affected by the magnets. This will also allow for a larger selection of print surfaces such as sheets of ABS, Polycarbonate, or Garolite to be used rather than needing a spring steel base. Spring steel flex plates will still be able to be used as long as one side is smooth. The goals of the Vacuum Bed are as follows:

    • Plug and play addon with existing electronics

    • ease of installation for those who want to upgrade

    • easy print surface removal

    • Quiet operation

    • Release Jan-Feb 2024
